The Great Queensland Roam – Local Loop – 1,000 km

Audax Theme

Friday 29 August 2026. 6:00am – Captain Burke Park – Kangaroo Point

A ride by Pedal Brisbane & Audax QLD

The Great Queensland Roam is an ultra-endurance cycling adventure designed to celebrate everything that makes Queensland such an incredible place to ride. It is a journey across diverse landscapes, long roads, steep climbs, and quiet backroads — experienced at the pace only a bicycle allows.

This is not a race.
It is not about podiums or finishing times.
It is about exploration, self-reliance, and seeing Queensland in its raw and rewarding form.

From the edge of the city to the openness of the bay, from rainforest climbs to wide rural valleys, the Great Queensland Roam invites riders to experience the state as a connected, living landscape — one pedal stroke at a time.

Edition One: Local Loops — 1000 km, 3 days.
This edition of the Great Queensland Roam is titled Local Loops — a 1,000 km multi-day endurance ride that links together some of South East Queensland’s most loved, challenging, and iconic cycling routes.

This first edition is a tribute to the roads many local riders know well — but rarely experience as one continuous journey.

Each section brings its own rhythm, terrain, and character. Together, they form a demanding and deeply rewarding loop that truly showcases the best of South East Queensland cycling.

Climbs arrive when legs are tired. Headwinds appear when patience is tested. Sleep becomes a strategic decision.

This is a ride that rewards preparation, resilience, and respect for the distance. It is challenging by design — not to intimidate, but to offer a meaningful sense of accomplishment to those who complete it.

The Great Queensland Roam is an un-supported endurance event.
There are no support vehicles and no guided stages. Riders complete the route at their own pace within the cut off time, choosing how and where to rest, refuel, and recover.

While the ride is undertaken individually, it is shared with a community of like-minded cyclists — riders who value endurance, adventure, and the quiet satisfaction of long days on the road.

You may ride alone for hours, then find yourself sharing a meal, a story, or a sunrise with someone on the same journey.

It is about connection. It is about watching the city lights fade behind you, climbing into cooler air, rolling through farmland at dawn, and feeling the quiet satisfaction that comes from moving forward under your own power.

The Great Queensland Roam is an invitation to step beyond the usual routes, to ride deeper into the landscapes that shape Queensland cycling, and to discover what you’re capable of when the road keeps going.

Ride Queensland. Roam freely. Discover more.
